Instituto de Lenguajes Puerto Escondido is a small teachers' cooperative designed to give personal attention to students interested in learning Spanish. We offer small group and private lessons for students of all ages and all levels, from the very beginnner to the most advanced. Our school is convienently located on a bus route just meters from the famous beach, Playa Zicatela (Zee-cah-tey-la), commonly known as the Mexican Pipline. This location allows students to enjoy the pleasant beach atmosphere and be near the center of Puerto Escondido's activities. If coming to our school is inconvenient for you, for a small fee, we can be available to teach you in the privacy of your hotel or residence. Please click here for class prices |

Puerto Escondido Language School is based on the belief that a strong linguistic foundation is created through the simultaneous development of the four pillars of language: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Instructors integrate grammar into this context and help students to put their new Spanish language skills to use immediately. We have found that using this method makes learning Spanish rapid, easy and fun. If you would like to immerse yourself more profoundly in the Spanish language and Mexican culture, community service options or homestays with local families can be arranged. If a homestay does not suit your needs, there are plenty of hotel and other accommodations ranging form $10-$250 a night that can be found in Puerto Escondido. Visiting pacificcoasttravelinfo.com or zicatelaproperties.com will give you an idea of the other options available. Please mention that you will be studying with us when you contact the administrators of the aforementioned sites. |

Directions to the school |

The school is located on the ocean side of the coastal highway (la Carretera Costera) overlooking Bungalows Zicatela on Playa Zicatela. It's right in front of Bodega de Cemento Cruz Azul, a big white building with a domed corrugated metal roof and a blue cross painted on it. If you are having problems finding Cruz Azul, it is near the military base (el Batallón) which flies a huge Mexican flag that is visible from all parts of Puerto Escondido. This flag is a good point of reference. Also any taxi driver can easily bring you to Cruz Azul. There are signs for Instituto de Lenguajes Puerto Escondido on the ocean side of Carretera Costera in front of Cemento Cruz Azul. | |||
If you're on Playa Zicatela and don't want to take a taxi, you can walk away from the beach on the dead end road that separates Hotel Olas Altas and Hotel Inés. Climb the stairs where that road ends and continue until you reach the coastal highway. From there if you turn left and walk a couple hundred yards, you will see the Cemento Cruz Azul building across the street on your right and the school will be on your left. |

Community Volunteering |
||||
![]() |
Volunteer your time! Volunteer opportunities with the local orphanage and environmental groups can be arranged. Volunteering provides a good opportunity to interact with the community and learn Spanish through hands-on activities. El Instituto charges a one time set up fee of $20 U.S. for arranging community services. Our mission Instituto de lenguajes Puerto Escondido also offers classes in English as a Foreign Language. These classes are offered at very reasonable rates so that they are accessible to the community. Eventually we would like to get all students, both Spanish and English speakers, working hand in hand volunteering their services to the community. |
