HOMESTAYS

If you would like to immerse yourself in the Spanish language and the Mexican culture, we arrange homestays with local families. Homestays, including food and housing, cost approximately $150 U.S. a week, depending on the family, the time of year and the exchange rate. The Spanish language school hand-selects host families for homestays. All host families have a sincere desire to invite foreign visitors into their homes and have been versed in safe preparation of food. All homestays provide private rooms with the necessary amenities.

We also offer a "pseudo homestay" option where students stay at a family-owned small "hotel" with a host family that lives in-house. Students have their own room with a private bath. No meals are provided only rooms and plenty of conversation. However, there are plenty of restaurants within a 5 minute walk of the pseudo homestay. During most of the year the price is approximately $10 U.S. a night for a cabana & $13 for a room. During the peak seasons (the two weeks around Christmas and New years, the two week around Easter, the last two weeks of July and the first two weeks of August, a cabana with a shared bath costs approximately $20 U.S. a day and a $35 for a room with a private bath. Many students think that this is the best of both worlds. They have the freedom to come and go as they please without feeling like someone is watching over them and the opportunity to practice their Spanish with a family.

For all homestays, the school charges a one time $20 U.S. set up fee for making the arrangements.

To reserve a homestay, a $50 U.S. deposit (completely applicable to your lodging) is required. An additional deposit of $20 U.S. per week (payable in advance but completely applicable to your subsequent weeks of lodging) is required to reserve your homestay for each week thereafter.
