Surf trips, lessons and board rentals

Puerto Escondido is a world famous destination for surfing. Many people travel here each year to try their skills on some of the most hollow, tubing waves in the world. However, the pounding beach break on Playa Zicatela, more commonly known as the Mexican Pipeline, is not the only surf break in the area. Here in Puerto Escondido and all along the length of the coast of Oaxaca, there are a variety of quality beach breaks, outer reef breaks and long points breaks, most of which go virtually unsurfed. There's surf here to meet every surfer's desires, from "first timers" to the most advanced.

Surf lessons

Surfing is an extremely thrilling and enriching sport but it is also very challenging and intimidating to learn. For this reason many beginners become frustrated after a few exhausting hours of paddling around and getting washed by the waves with little success. We offer surf lessons to help people feel more comfortable with a board in the surf. In this way they can overcome that initial stage in the learning process more quickly so they can experience the true thrill and joy that is surfing. Lessons can be taught in English so they can have the comfort of learning a new sport with instruction in their native tongue or in Spanish so students can also acquire the Spanish language in an enjoyable, context-rich environment. The cost of surf lessons is $30 U.S. an hour for one person and $15 U.S. an hour for each additional person (minimum 2 hours). The lesson does not include board rental.

Surfboard rentals

We rent a variety of boards to accommodate the style and level of each surfer. Rental cost is $5 U.S. an hour, $10 a day, $50 a week and $150 a month.
